SWEET POTATO MASALA FRIES

Hello there, I am about to do you a favor,Sweet Potato Masala Fries. That’s the favor. Have you had Masala chips? or Masala fries? well, these are like the 2.0 version of fries. The sweet potatoes fries do taste better than white potato fries . I guess it’s true sweet potatoes are the  real deal. And the best part it’s healthy and clean, you know clean as in nothing in this recipe is processed or has all those crazy chemicals in almost all foods these days.

Let me demonstrate; Peel your sweet potatoes and wash them and cut them.

Fry your sweet potatoes in your pan/ or whatever it is you use to make your normal fries.

Now the Masala sauce , I am salivating thinking about it.Funny thing happened the other day when I was making them, my neighbor passed by my door and said ” smells good”, then I thought I will take some to him later but unfortunately they never made it! I know I know shame on me. Maybe next time good neighbor.

Back to the sauce; Blend tomatoes and garlic and chili, Add some water in the blender to aid in blending. See? All good stuff so far right? Now transfer this puree into a saucepan and heat. Add the cumin powder, Turmeric powder, Chaat masala, OR Garam masala, and salt (see recipe card for measurements). All healthy spices, especially the famous Turmeric with all it’s healing benefits. If you are not including Turmeric in your diet already you should, make some curry or even add it to your tea. Your immune system will thank you.

Back to the sauce again; just let it simmer until it has reduced and thickened, you might want to be careful though because as tomato sauces simmer they tend to splash all over the place.Cover it slightly if you want but just leave room for it to evaporate all the water.

Now In a pan, Mix the fries and the sauce and heat it a bit. Voila! Enjoy your Sweet potato Masala fries and don’t ever go back to plain fries again.  I know am a convert.

SWEET POTATO MASALA FRIES

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 Big Sweet Potatoes
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons Dhana Jeera
  • 1 tablespoon Turmeric Powder
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 2 Tomatoes (blended with 2 cloves garlic)
  • 1 red chile (chilli)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Chop the sweet potatoes into fries.

Heat cooking oil in a pan and fry the fries. Set them aside on a kitchen towel to drip oil.

In a separate pan, add oil, Then add spices and stir for a 1 minute.

Pour in tomato blend( blend tomatoes garlic and chilli).Stir this and let this simmer until reduced.

Add in the fries and mix all through.

Serve.

chopped coriander added in with the Fries.
