In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the buttermilk.
Mix the ingredients together until a soft dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly, shaping it into a round loaf.
Place the loaf on the prepared baking sheet and use a sharp knife to make a deep "X" on the top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 400°F (200°C) and continue baking for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
