- 1 cup fresh morel mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 shallots, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup dry white wine
- 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shallots and garlic, and sauté until softened and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the sliced morel mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they begin to brown and release their juices, about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in the white wine and cook until reduced by half, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the chicken or vegetable broth and simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Simmer gently for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Fresh morel mushrooms are preferred for this recipe, but you can also use rehydrated dried morels if fresh ones are not available. Simply soak the dried mushrooms in warm water for about 30 minutes before slicing and cooking.
- Be sure to thoroughly clean the morel mushrooms to remove any dirt or debris before slicing and cooking.
